Schedule A Consultation

Becoming a mother can be one of the great joys in life. To create, carry, birth, and care for your Plastic Surgery near Fort Lauderdale, FLchild is a fantastic gift to be cherished. It’s no secret, however, that the process takes its toll on your body. There are many unique stresses involved with pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, and a woman’s body (and her heart!) will never be the same. Many of these physical effects can be resistant to even the most stringent diet and exercise routines. That is where a mommy makeover comes in.

What is a Mommy Makeover?

A mommy makeover is a combination of common procedures specifically designed to restore a woman’s body to its pre-pregnancy contours. The best part is, no mommy makeover package is the same. Every woman’s post-partum needs are different, so it is up to the patient and Dr. Levens to choose the specific combination of procedures after a comprehensive consultation.

Since the mommy makeover involves multiple procedures wrapped into one, many patients want to know more about the recovery process.

What Can I Expect?

Since the mommy makeover is customized for each patient, exact recovery times vary on a case-by-case basis. It is important to discuss with your doctor what you need to do in preparation for your procedures, and how to best care for yourself afterward.

Most women can expect to take about two weeks away from work and responsibilities to recover at home. It will be important to have another adult around as you will not have full mobility and will not be able to lift heavy things, including your children.

During the initial stages of recovery, swelling, bruising, and tenderness can be expected. Do not be disappointed if you do not see the results right away as the body needs to heal a bit before swelling will go down. As time goes on, you will regain more motility and will gradually be able to become more active.

Aiding Recovery

There are some things you can do to help assure that your recovery is as seamless as possible.

  • Don’t smoke. In fact, it is recommended that you avoid smoking for the weeks leading up to your surgery as well. Smoking can interfere with your body’s healing process and can even cause complications.
  • Pay attention. In most cases, your body will tell you what you need. If you are feeling discomfort or pain while trying to complete a task, don’t push it. Your body needs time to heal and regain its strength.
  • Make healthy choices. You need to make sure to stay fully nourished as your body heals. Post-surgery swelling may not leave you feeling your best, but staying healthy and hydrated will lead to quicker results.
  • Consult your doctor. If you are uncertain about anything, it is important to ask your doctor. Dr. Levens is here to help and is as invested in a smooth and speedy recovery as you are.
