The decision to undergo any plastic surgery procedure is a big one, and we understand that. We want you to feel as comfortable and confident as possible in your decision to get the body you deserve. Today, we wanted to answer some of our patients’ most frequently asked questions about breast implants, so you can know exactly what you’re getting into before you even come in for your private consultation with Dr. Levens.

1.      What’s the best type of breast implant?

The answer to this question really depends on your age, your budget and your desired results. Dr. Levens and his team offers two different types of breast implants.

  • Saline breast implants. FDA-approved for patients 18 and older, saline breast implants are a popular choice for patients who wish to have a slightly smaller incision during surgery. Saline breast implants are also more affordable than silicone breast implants, and eliminate the risk of silicone leaking into the body in the rare event of a rupture.
  • Silicone breast implants. Silicone breast implants are typically the most popular option. FDA-approved for patients 22 years and older, silicone breast implants are a great option for patients who wish for a more natural look and feel to their augmented breasts post-surgery. Silicone breast implants typically lessen rippling that may occur with saline implants.

2.      How long do breast implants last?

Contrary to popular belief, breast implants don’t necessarily last forever. While the breast implants themselves don’t ever expire, the risk of potential complications increases about 12-15 years after breast augmentation surgery. We typically recommend our patients start checking their breast implants regularly after 10 years, and come in to see Dr. Levens when they feel it may be time to get their breast implants replaced.

3.      Are breast implants safe?

In the past, breast implants have gotten a bad rap for rupturing or being harmful to the body, but innovations and technological advances over the past few decades make them safer than ever before. That being said, it’s important to be aware of possible complications, like excess scar tissue called capsular contracture and the potential for implant leak. If you’re concerned about your safety with breast implants, sit down with Dr. Levens in a private consultation.

4.      How much do breast implants cost?

A breast augmentation with Dr. Levens typically starts at $5,800 with saline breast implants and $6,600 with silicone breast implants. These prices include Dr. Levens fee, the implants, the facility and anesthesia used for your surgery and any specials Dr. Levens may be running at the time. The best way to find out how much your breast implants will cost is to call then come in for a private consultation.

5.      Are breast implants right for me?

If you’re 18 years or older, have a fully developed chest and are unhappy with the size of your breasts, breast augmentation with saline or silicone breast implants may be right for you. We encourage you to do thorough research on your breast augmentation and sit down with Dr. Levens one-on-one to ensure you have all of your questions answered before making this decision. We’ll make sure we’re by your side every step of the way to ensure you’re confident in your decision to get breast implants.
