A vacation in South Florida certainly has its perks – warm weather, sandy beaches and for some, a quick nip/tuck.
Over the past several years, South Florida has become a top plastic surgery destination. Miami in particular, has more plastic surgeons per capita than almost any other U.S. city.
Modern technology has made it easy for potential patients to consult with out-of-state (or even out-of-country) plastic surgeons online.
As a result, men and women from across the country are heading to Broward and Palm Beach counties looking for a highly skilled plastic surgeon.
This has translated into a windfall of business for local hotels and nursing companies that cater to the needs of unique guests.
Jacque Scherfer, owner of Best Care, a private nurse registry in South Florida, said she is growing her company to reach customers beyond geriatric care.
Although plastic surgery patients currently make up less than 10 percent of her business, she sees an opportunity for growth.
“Sometimes husbands and family members don’t always know how to care for their loved ones after a surgery,” Scherfer said. “That’s where we can help.”
As one of South Florida’s leading plastic surgeons, Dr. David Levens has been able to help patients from across the globe. In particular, Levens has seen a surge of out-of-town patients visiting from the Caribbean.
According to Linda Levens, Dr. Levens’ office manager and wife, “This trend is definitely growing. You didn’t see so many people from outside of Florida like this 10 or 15 years ago.”
When asked about comfortable accommodations, Dr. Levens often sends his patients to the Marriott Coral Springs Hotel & Convention Center to recuperate.
Dr. David J. Levens, FACS has been a practicing board-certified plastic surgeon in Coral Springs since 1989. He specializes in plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Learn more about South Florida Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Levens.
