Liposuction in Pembroke Pines, FL

Toning and successfully reducing the number of fat cells in a specific area is usually impossible because all fat cells are not exactly the same. While toning may be successfully achieved in one area of your body, stubborn fat pockets may remain in another. Dr. David Levens specializes in drastically reducing and eliminating those stubborn areas of fat. Men and women in Pembroke Pines, Florida, can strategically address those stubborn fat pockets and finally achieve their desired beach body.

What is Liposuction?

Men and women can achieve body slimming results with liposuction. Unattractive bulges that have been immune to both proper diet and regular exercise can be successfully reduced. This will create a smooth and attractive body outline. Removing bulging fat pockets will enhance the patient’s overall appearance in close-fitting garments. Swimwear, business attire, casual clothing, form-fitting dresses, and summer attire will look more attractive and feel more comfortable. Patients are excited when they no longer need to purchase oversized clothing to conceal the unsightly bulges caused by fat pockets in their arms, stomach, thighs, hips, and buttocks.

Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty, is completed with cannulas. Cannulas are small tubes that are inserted through tiny incisions. These small tubes are used to remove fat from unwanted areas on the body, improving the patient’s silhouette. Some commonly treated areas include:

• Neck
• Upper arms
• Upper abdominal area
• Lower abdominal area
• Hips (saddlebags)
• Flank area (love handles)
• Back
• Inner thighs
• Outer thighs
• Buttocks
• Knees
• Calves
• Ankles

Would I Make a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

Liposuction removes fat deposits and reduces the appearance of unsightly bulges. The procedure is most successful when performed on men and women of a relatively healthy weight. Extremely overweight individuals will not benefit from this cosmetic procedure. If your skin is loose or lacking elasticity prior to your procedure, it may sag once the excess fat is removed. Patients with loose skin generally find it difficult to enjoy the results of their procedure without removing skin that detracts from their new, slimmer silhouette. Skin naturally begins to lose its elasticity around the age of 45 so older patients may be more prone to poor skin elasticity.

What Happens During Liposuction?

Dr. Levens will begin the procedure by carefully drawing detailed lines that are used to mark the areas of excess fat. Discrete incisions will be made in concealed areas, and the small suction tube will be inserted to the needed depth. The tube will be passed back and forth as the fat is suctioned out. The tube will gradually make its way across the various areas of fat being targeted as small amounts of fat are removed. The area being treated will be consistently checked for thickness and adequate contouring during the procedure.

After Dr. Levens has achieved the desired results, the incisions will be carefully closed. Each of the incisions will be stitched closed, so small scars can be expected. An elastic dressing will gently apply pressure to the skin at the treated area and prevent excess fluid from developing in the newly suctioned area. After waiting a few days, the patient may resume showering and bathing normally.
