Dermal Fillers and Injectables near Fort Lauderdale, FLIf you’re thinking about getting lip injections for the first time, it’s only natural to be a bit nervous. But knowing what to expect can help calm those first-time jitters.

The most important decision you’ll make is to find a qualified plastic surgeon to do the procedure.

What Results Are You Looking For?

Once you’ve decided on the doctor, the next big decision is to decide what type of results you’re expecting. Do you want a subtle change that looks more natural or are you looking for something more dramatic? If you don’t identify your goals going in, chances are you could be unhappy with the results. Discuss your objectives with your doctor who will then decide how much filler to use and where to inject it to give you your desired outcome.

Will It Hurt?

Since this experience is new, it’s only natural to be a little nervous about what to expect. Is this going to hurt? While there is some discomfort associated with getting lip injections, most people who have the procedure feel that the pain is minimal.

When using a topical anesthetic to numb the treatment area before doing the injections, you will feel no pain when the lip is injected. The whole process will likely take less than an hour. To get the desired result, your plastic surgeon will mold and shape the hyaluronic gel with his fingers.

Later that day after the procedure, you may experience a little pain or discomfort. The next day, you will notice some swelling that will last for a couple of days. Some patients experience bruising.

How Long Will the Results Last?

You will immediately notice the results when the procedure is complete, but it will take a couple of days for your lips to settle into place. How long will the results last? That depends on how your body metabolizes the hyaluronic acid. Some people see results last for three months, while others continue to see results for up to a year.
