Body Lift

body-procedures-coral-springs

Body lift surgery addresses loose skin and tissue on the lower body. Most body lift patients have lost a large amount of weight, which has caused problems with loose skin. Through removal of the apron of loose skin covering the lower body, Dr. Levens can improve your figure and put the finishing touch on your weight loss efforts.

The body lift, here in Coral Springs, is one of many procedures available for body contouring after major weight loss.

Good Candidates for Body Lift

Men and women who undergo body lift surgery typically need skin removed from the:

  • Abdomen
  • Back
  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Buttocks

To be considered a candidate for body lift, you should be at a stable body weight, in generally good health, and motivated to improve your appearance. The best candidates for body lift surgery are those who have experienced major weight loss. This is more common as people increasingly achieve their weight loss goals through physical fitness or bariatric surgery.

If you think a body lift may be right for you, a consultation is the next step. During a consultation with Dr. Levens in Coral Springs, you can discuss options for cosmetic surgery after weight loss. Dr. Levens will provide details about body lift surgery and its benefits, risks, goals and expected results. You can review body lift photos and other body contouring pictures taken at our Coral Springs plastic surgery office.

What Happens During Body Lift Surgery?

Body lift surgery procedures combine techniques from the tummy tuck and the butt lift. Dr. Levens works in a circumferential manner around the lower body, removing the apron of loose skin and tissue. The incisions are placed within natural skin folds, which often allows post-surgical scars to be well hidden.

Dr. Levens may choose to combine the body lift with liposuction to remove small areas of excess fat.

After the Body Lift

Because the body lift is an extensive plastic surgery procedure, patients should plan for some recovery time. Dr. Levens will help you prepare for the recovery period by providing specific instructions before your surgery. Pain can be managed with prescription medication. Antibiotics are also prescribed, along with elastic compression garments that promote skin contraction.

There will likely be surgical drains in place for approximately one week after surgery. You'll need to postpone aerobic exercise and other rigorous activities for approximately six weeks. The result of the body lift is tighter, smoother skin on the tummy, buttocks and surrounding areas.
