Breast Augmentation in Pompano Beach, FL

Breast augmentation, also known as a “boob job”, increases the size and shape of your breasts with the use of silicone or saline implants. Women in Pompano Beach who desire larger breasts that complement their bodies that are completely natural-looking trust the experience and skill of board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David J. Levens, and his outstanding medical team at our Coral Springs office.

What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in South Florida. The procedure consists of surgical placement of breast implants in the bust area in order to increase breast size and volume. The implants themselves are medical devices, measuring up to extremely high standards of manufacture. Dr. Levens uses only those implants that have undergone thorough testing and have shown spectacular results.

It is important to note that breast implants do not lead to breast cancer. Studies have shown that breast cancer develops in about 10% of all women, with no significant correlation between individuals who have undergone breast augmentation and incidences of breast cancer.

Good Candidates for Breast Augmentation

The ideal candidate for breast augmentation surgery is a healthy woman whose breasts are smaller than they would like due to genetic predisposition or because of changes to the breasts from pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss. During your complimentary one-on-one consultation, Dr. Levens will discuss your healthy history, wishes, needs, and goals for the procedure. The amount at which your breasts can be enlarged depends on your unique tissue structure. For example, your skin may be tight if you have breasts that are on the smaller side, and you have never been pregnant. This tautness of the skin could somewhat limit the amount of volume that can be achieved with surgery.

What Happens During Breast Augmentation?

In most cases, the implants are placed behind the pectoral muscle. In some situations, the implant may, instead, be placed directly behind the breast tissue. Dr. Levens, as one of South Florida’s top plastic surgeons, will work directly with you to determine which technique is the best option for your specific breast type and chest wall anatomy. With either technique, the implant is positioned behind your breast tissue so that it remains readily examinable.
