Case Study: Face Lift
“I used to watch my Mom in front of a mirror, pulling back her cheeks to make the wrinkles and sags momentarily fade. When I started doing the same thing, I figured it was time for a facelift,” says Carrie Moore*, 59.
Carrie was also wanted to improve her neck and jawline: “Sagging necks run in our family,” she says, “and I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life trying to hide mine with turtlenecks.”
After her plastic surgery, Carrie says people “tell me I look great, but they don’t usually suspect a facelift because the change is very natural-looking.”
The Procedure: Dr. Levens made incisions within the hair at Carrie’s temples, in skin creases in front of and behind her ear, and within the hairline behind her ears. The skin and deeper tissues of the face were shifted upward and backward to reposition and tighten them. Excess or malpositioned fatty tissue was removed and sculpted. After re-draping the skin and soft tissues, excess tissue was removed and the incisions closed.
In the neck area, malposition of neck muscles was corrected to provide better support and ideal contour. * Name changed for privacy purposes.
