Case Study: Breast Lift

Breast Lift befora and after

At 37, Lucy Hume* jokes she “didn’t want to increase the size of my breasts...just change their location.” She opted for a breast lift which restored a more youthful figure and “made me feel much better about my body.”

“I have a good friend who had a breast augmentation and tummy tuck with Dr. Levens and was very happy, so I chose him for my lift,” she adds. “It was something I just wanted to do for myself, after having two kids and watching my breasts become saggier as time went by."

The Procedure: Breast lifts are frequently done in conjunction with breast augmentation because many women lose volume as they age and often don’t have enough breast tissue to create a reasonable breast mound once excess skin has been removed. In cases like Lucy’s-- who had adequate volume and didn’t want larger breasts anyway—the breast lift alone achieved her goal.

Dr. Levens made incisions in the lower part of Lucy’s breast and removed excess skin and breast tissue. He then repositioned the beast mound upward and repositioned her nipple and areola upward on the newly shaped breast. Incisions were carefully closed with sutures placed beneath the skin. The process was repeated on the other breast after re-measuring to ensure that maximum symmetry would be achieved.
