Considering cosmetic
surgery?
You're in good company.
As recently as 25 years ago, most
Americans viewed
cosmetic surgery as something reserved for the rich
and famous. Times have certainly changed.

According to the latest
national surveys, nearly 8.5 million surgical and non-surgical procedures
were
performed in 2001, up 304% over 1997. The top five surgeries were
lipoplasty, eyelid surgery, breast
augmentation, nose reshaping and facelift. Tummy tucks were up 109%,
breast lifts, 203%.
Procedures on men topped 1 |
million (Lipoplasty was #1.) Baby Boomers (35-50) had 44% of all procedures.
Their favorites were
Botox, lipoplasty and eyelid surgery. 55% of both men and women say they
approve of cosmetic surgery.

Cosmetic Surgery Mini-Quiz
- How long does a typical facelift last?
- How often do Botox injections have to be repeated?
- What causes under-eye puffiness as we age?
- Will lipoplasty eliminate cellulite?
Answers:
#1. The aging process doesn't stop with a facelift. A facelift usually
"lasts" 10-12 years, but every case is different. #2 For
most patients, about every 3-4 months though in some cases frown
lines do not reappear after several treatments because the muscles
have been retrained. #3. With age, fat deposits from behind the
eye shift into the area below the lower lid. Eyelid surgery
(blepharoplasty) can remove the fat. #4. No. |

"Then I
had a free consultation with Dr. Levens and felt an immediate connection
- I knew he was the one I
wanted to perform the surgery. I usually shop around for something this
important, not for price but for quality. But after seeing his credentials
and doing some research on the Internet, I didn't need to go anyplace
else."
The Procedure
Dr. Levens performed a traditional abdominoplasty on
Maria. He placed incisions low on her abdomen to conceal them. Skin and
fat were lifted off the underlying musculature of the abdomen. Maria's
