Case Study: Upper/Lower Eyelid Surgery

"I wanted to turn 50 with my eyelids done," says Amy S., Parkland. "My friends said I didn't need it but I always looked tired, had trouble applying makeup, got sick of trying to conceal under-eye puffiness. "After I had it done, the same friends said, Wow, you really did need that surgery...the difference is amazing."

The Procedure.

To lift and reduce volume in upper eyelids, Dr. Levens makes tiny incisions in the upper eyelid folds, removes fat and skin and closes the incisions with tiny sutures. For lower lids, incisions are placed either inside the lower lids or just below the eyelashes where they are inconspicuous. Fatty tissue which causes tissue to bulge and sag is removed and incisions are closed.

Case Study: Mini-Facelift & Chin Implant

At 46, Marsha F. of Coral Springs didn't think she needed a full facelift but she also didn't like her "full, slightly sagging jowls that gave me a matronly look.

The Procedures.

The least invasive type of facelift, the mini-facelift,
involves making short incisions in front of the ears. Excess skin is removed. Deeper cheek muscle and supporting tissues may also be tightened and “lifted”. Results typically last 3-5 years, compared with 7-10 for a full facelift.

For chin augmentation, incisions are placed either inside the mouth, or outside, in a skin crease beneath the chin to minimize visibility. The skin and soft tissues over the chin area are elevated and a pocket is created where an implant is placed and secured.

“People say, gee, you look great, what's different?” says Marsha. “I love that because it means the results are positive but very natural-looking.”
