Liposuction in Pompano Beach, FL

Not all fat cells are created equal, which is why you can successfully slim down one area while others remain unchanged. Our Coral Springs office performs liposuction procedures to eliminate those stubborn fat deposits, helping both male and female patients in Pompano Beach, Florida, attain their ideal beach bodies.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a procedure that helps patients eliminate fat pockets that are unresponsive to exercise or dietary changes. The reduction of these fat deposits leads to a more even weight distribution and a slender, smooth body contour. Liposuction can dramatically enhance the appearance of a patient wearing slacks, bathing suits, or other close-fitting garments.

Liposuction patients often find themselves no longer needing to purchase oversized clothes to hide fat deposits in places like the buttocks, hips, upper arms, or thighs. Liposuction involves the use of small cannulas or tubes that are inserted into tiny incisions to take out excessive fat deposits from various locations. Localized bulges caused by fat deposits may be found in areas like the upper arms, neck, upper and lower abdomen, inner thighs, back, flank areas, buttocks, outer thighs and hips, ankles, calves, and knees.

Liposuction procedures are not for those who are currently obese and are not a substitute for proper exercise and diet. They can also be performed in combination with other plastic surgery procedures like tummy tucks, breast reduction, or face-lifts.

Would I Make a Good Liposuction Candidate?

You may make a good candidate for a liposuction procedure if you are a healthy man or woman with local fat deposits and are not excessively overweight. Another factor is skin elasticity. When subsurface fat is removed, the skin above can be loose and sag. How loose your skin will be depends upon how elastic your skin was prior to your procedure and how much fat will be removed. Some tissue excision may be necessary in order to have a good result. There is no exact age at which the skin becomes too loose for liposuction, but it occurs for most people when they reach their late 40’s or early 50’s.

What Happens During a Liposuction Procedure?

Dr. Levens will begin by drawing very detailed lines on the areas of your body to be treated to indicate where fat needs to be suctioned. He will then make tiny incisions at the treatment sites and insert small tubes into these incisions. The depth of each fat deposit will determine the depth of the tube placement. Dr. Levens will then move the tube back and forth and repeat the process in this manner for each part of the body requiring treatment.

When Dr. Levens is done removing fat, he will compare both sides of your body to ensure an even result. Next, he will carefully close each incision and place a dressing or elastic garment with gentle skin pressure to keep excessive fluid from accumulating in the treatment areas. He will then close each incision, which leaves only small scars. You will be able to resume bathing or showering in a few days.
